General Info

Big Poke at 96 Merrimack St, Lowell, MA 01852, United States, is one of those spots that immediately gives off a laid-back island vibe the moment you walk in. As a Hawaiian restaurant, it leans into fresh flavors and simple combinations, but what really stands out is how approachable the menu feels, whether you’re new to poke or already a fan.

On my visit, I went straight for the Poke Bowl Spicy Ahi, and it didn’t disappoint. The fish tasted fresh, with just the right kick of heat that didn’t overpower the other ingredients. Everything in the bowl felt balanced-nothing too heavy, nothing too bland. It’s the kind of dish you keep coming back to because it hits that sweet spot between comfort and flavor. Another standout on the menu is the Aloha Bowl, which brings a slightly different vibe-lighter, a bit more refreshing, and perfect if you want something that feels bright and satisfying without being too filling.

The restaurant itself has a relaxed, casual setup that works well for both quick lunches and longer hangouts. I noticed a lot of college students dropping by, which makes sense given the easygoing atmosphere and reasonable pricing. If you’re dining in, the table service is smooth and friendly without being intrusive. At the same time, if you’re short on time, the delivery option is convenient and reliable, making it easy to enjoy the same quality at home.

Another thing worth mentioning is how seamless the ordering process is. Credit cards are accepted, and everything feels straightforward, whether you’re ordering in person or placing a delivery request. That kind of convenience really adds to the overall experience, especially when you’re just looking for a quick, satisfying meal without any hassle.

From a broader perspective, Big Poke fits nicely into the local food scene in Lowell. It’s the kind of place that earns good reviews not just because of the food, but because of the consistency. The menu is focused, the flavors are clean, and the service matches the vibe. Whether you’re exploring new restaurant options in the area or just craving a reliable poke bowl, this location delivers a solid, enjoyable experience every time.

What customers say?

“ This is a small place, which appears locally owned. The service was very good . The food looked very fresh in the trays. The price was reasonable. The poke bowl tasted very good, one of the best poke bowls I have had. Great flavors and options to choose from for the proteins. I would highly recommend this place. ”

“ The izzyrito looked like the standout order here. You can add flaming hot Cheetos to the wrap and I recommend you do! You get a lot of good quality fish and a great variety of veggies and toppings to boot. The truffle aioli was sweet and very truffle-y. It's a bit pricey but I think for the quality of ingredients and the amount of food you're getting, it's worth it. Great option to have in the downtown area ”

“ This place has a particularly nice selection of toppings and sides, and the fish tastes pretty fresh. If you're not hungry, don't get a large, because I made the mistake of underestimating how much food they give you and could barely walk after. If you don't like the end result flavor wise, I kind of think that's your fault for picking a bad combo of things. (This is the third review in a row where I've been insulting people's ordering habits. #NoFoodWaste) I'm not wild about the price level, but the value is still good regardless. ”

“ Fresh fresh fish!! Salmon and tuna and also have the spicy option. There are many options you can add to your bowl. Much more than other poke places and the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly! Hey are willing to help in making a bowl for you that you will love! They have a rewards program that offers free food items and a free bowl after the 10th purchase! Something to look forward to eventually! Definitely coming here a lot! ”

“ Fresh Fresh Fresh. Everything there is delicious. Prices are very reasonable for sushi grade products. $16 will get you about 2 lbs of food and 2 meals. I love this place. ”

“ Haven't had it in a while. Normally it takes long so wasn't a surprised when we ordered online at 12pm and we had to wait at the store until 1pm. BUT that's not the issue. The issue is that my food is not edible. They forgot my add in item of island Mac in multiple orders but my rice? It's ROCK hard. Not cooked at all. When I called them to try the rock hard rice they said "oh we made new rice right after we opened but gave u the old rice so we can't try it cus we threw it out" so why am I getting old rice thats rock hard. I can't eat it. I dont know if I'll be going back bc I wasted my money Im starving after waiting an hour for my food and the experience eis just so terrible. I called JOSE the manager but it seems he blocked me or avoiding me and the store employees keep telling me to call him and deferring responsibility and noone is giving my money back. I want my refund. Update** called the store multiple times after I basically demanded that he call me back) and the owner (not manager) eventually called (*said he wasn't picking up bc my # was NYC n he gets a lot of spam lol) I told him I'm not making the 20minutes drive back and I just want my refund and he actually ended up driving to my place n dropping off a fresh order! he also said he will refund me n explained that he had hired new employees to work on Saturday which he normally doesn't so I'm hoping it's a one time mistake next time hopefully they don't just leave newbies on a Saturday rush. But was Kind enough to explain the situation so updating my review from one star. Customer service to make up was on point. I'll give it 5 stars if they can speed up my order next time cus it's still slow every time I go ”

“ The best poke I've ever had in my life, and the employees are always kind and friendly. I don't even care that you guys had to raise your prices a little because of inflation, I drive 45 minutes to come eat some of that fantastic poke and it is well worth the price. I love u Big Poke, you can do no wrong ”
